ÇANAKKALE TOWN SQUARE AND ITS ENVIRONMENT URBAN DESIGN – FIRST PRIZE AWARD
In the National Urban Design Project Competition of Landscaping of Town Square and its Environment of Çanakkale, first placed award was won. The project includes renovation of Cumhuriyet and İskele Square with its surroundings and providing solutions to macro scale problems of the city.
The project is functionalized as according to future vision of Çanakkale, with having the property of urban open space that has a quality of development of spatial, cultural, artistic, social and ecological values, in a way that, sustainable, innovative, and economical designed solutions.
It is aimed at combining the seashore with the city and citizens; and gaining the city life, with creating places that has a unique identity and reflecting values and characteristics of Çanakkale.
The purpose of the project is, to rearrange the Town Square and Surroundings of city in the principles of urban, artistic and landscape design related to city’s identity and its future vision, the way that satisfies today’s users’ needs.
